Antique Korean / Japanese diving helmet, 1920 to 1960

A beautifully weathered copper diving helmet in classic style, as used by professional deep sea divers in East Asia. The piece shows a rich, natural patina in shades of green, brown and copper red, the result of years of use and exposure to seawater.

It has 2 smaller side windows with decorative grilles to protect the glass. Detachable collar / breastplate with three pass through connections (for air and communication hoses). Wing nuts and brackets around the collar for attachment to the diving suit. Unfortunately the oval maker's plate with the possible manufacturer's name is no longer legible due to wear.

The object is in authentic condition, with patina and signs of use in keeping with its age. Many diving helmets of this era have dents on top, because military or commercial divers often worked under ship hulls or other structures and bumped their heads. We bought this object from the collection of a Spanish collector.
