Life-size bust after Antinous on a column
Monumental, life-size bust after Antinous, made of cast stone and placed on a tall fluted column. The statue is based on the classical Greek / Roman sculptural tradition in which Antinous was depicted as an idealised young man.
Made in the 20th century as a decorative interpretation of a classical sculpture. The surface has a naturally weathered patina with local discolouration and signs of age, in keeping with the character of the piece. Some small damaged spots on the pedestal here and there.
